Millions of Products – Smart Search: PHH Group websites now run on Algolia Technolo

PHH Group has taken an important step to improve the visitor experience – Pigu.lt, Kaup24.ee, 220.lv and HobbyHall.fi websites now run on Algolia, a leading global search technology powered by AI solutions. This collaboration allows shoppers to find what they are looking for faster and more accurately – with the help of artificial intelligence, personalized results, intelligent highlighting of top products, and a constantly evolving search algorithm.

“We continuously invest in technological solutions that enhance our visitors’ shopping experience. A wide product assortment delivers real value only when it’s easy to find exactly what you’re looking for. The human factor alone could no longer ensure sufficient control and optimization of search quality, whereas Algolia’s tools enable us to effectively tackle this challenge – making the product discovery journey easier for the customer. At the same time, we ensure that our Marketplace sellers’ offers are visible and discoverable,” says Vytautas Romeika, Marketing Director at PHH Group.

According to him, the company tested various alternative technologies. “It was extremely important to us that the solution had already been tested in the market, was built on best practices, refined and matured, and also allowed for fast integration. Algolia met all of these criteria,” Romeika notes.

The intuitive, precise, AI-powered search began working for some customers as early as July, and by August it was available to all visitors of the e-shopping center. While certain functions are still being refined, the first results are already evident: the search runs smoothly, delivers more accurate results, and helps customers find their desired products more easily.

Romeika emphasizes that Algolia’s tools allow the search system to intuitively understand the customer and help them navigate virtual product shelves. “The most popular search queries, such as Lego or iPhone, generate thousands of results, so it’s crucial to ensure that on the very first page the customer finds exactly what they need,” says Romeika.

He adds that the modern tool properly ranks the results and combines semantic (vector-based) and traditional (keyword-based) search – ensuring speed, accuracy, and the interpretation of complex queries.

According to Gartner, one of the world’s largest IT market research companies, Algolia has been the global leader among integrated search engines for the second year in a row.
